Humbird Annual Ice or No Ice Fishing Contest on lake Emerson in Humbird, WI on Sunday, March 14th from noon - 3pm. 1st prize in each fish category is a .22 riffle, 2nd is $25, 3rd is $15. Categories are Bluegill, Crappie, and perch. Many other door prizes to be given away. Bait available on site.

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Partner Family for its summer build in Sparta. Qualified applicants must show a need, be of low income, be willing to partner with Habitat in the building of their house, and have lived in Monroe County for the past year. Habitat doesn't give houses away! Instead, we work with people of low income so that they will be able to buy a decent, affordable house for approximately $500-550. Paying over 33% of your income for rent shows a need. Inadequate housing issues such as problems with the plumbing, electric, or heating systems, overcrowding, or mold shows a need. Families who think they may qualify should contact Monroe County Habitat at P.O. Box 129, Sparta, 54656 for an application. Act now because the application deadline is March 15.

Sparta Area School DistrictChild Development Days will be held Wednesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Administrative and Educational Center, 201 E. Franklin St., Sparta. Use the Conference Center entrance off the Benton Street parking lot.This is a developmental screening that provides parents an opportunity to learn about your child's growth and development. Pre-Kindergarten registration will also be done at this time for the 2010-2011 school year. This screening is for all children with birth dates between September 2, 2005 and March 31, 2007. All eligible children are encouraged to attend. Letters have been sent out with registration materials and appointment times. If you did not receive a letter, please call 269-3151.

Freedom Honor Flight fundraiser on Saturday, March 27
from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at the Holmen American Legion, 419 1st Avenue East,
Holmen, WI. Casual casino gambling, silent auction, adult beverages, light
snacks and great door prizes. All proceeds go to Freedom Honor Flight to
send WW11 veterans to visit the memorials that stand in their honor in Washington, DC. Tickets $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 201 of Tomah is having a Cabin Fever Craft and Bake Sale on April 17th from 9am - 2pm Lunch @ 11am and Euchre @ 12 noon. Will have crafts, home sales and bake sale to choose from. Proceeds go towards
Veterans support, community support, and student scholarships.
