MIKE BURNS-GILBERT--10AM-2PM
RACHEL CHASE--2-7PM
Hey there, I’m Rachel Chase and I’m super stoked that you’re coming along with me in the afternoon on COW97.
Born and raised in small town Bonduel, Wisconsin where I grew up surrounded by extended family. I spent my younger years playing volleyball, basketball and softball as well as attending many football and baseball games. Yeah, I like sports, which is where I got my start in broadcasting as a PA announcer for the Bonduel Broncos. I still announce when I go back to visit my hometown in the summer.
I graduated from UWSP with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and also attended Radio 1 Broadcast School. Since graduating from Radio 1, my career has taken me to stations in Shawano, WI, Garden City, KS, Hibbing, MN, La Crosse, WI and now I’ve landed at COW97.
I have dabbled in all kinds of music, but country music is definitely my favorite. I love going to concerts and have been lucky enough to meet several artists.
When I’m not playing radio, there are several places you can find me. I could be at home binge watching TV shows and movies with the boyfriend. I could be out shopping, or you could find me at a local establishment tipping a few back….all viable options.
CLARY HARRIS--NEWS DIRECTOR
--NEWS & SPORTS--ADAM ROBERTS
Who is Adam...
I come from the faraway land of Fond du Lac, and have lived in La Crosse since 2012 when I started at UWL. I’m a proud member of the Class of 2016, and loving father of three bass guitars.
My love of sports was born on August 20th, 1999, when I was taken to old County Stadium in Milwaukee to watch the Brewers lose 10-3 in a game where Barry Bonds hit two of his 762* home runs. I’ve followed along with the team ever since, and still have my commemorative balls from the opening game of Miller Park and the 2002 All Star Game above my desk! I used to be a HUGE Packer fan, but after 2014 season I’ve eased up a bit (things got a bit TOO intense!). Also I enjoy the Toronto Maple Leafs, and have a Tie Domi jersey hanging up next to my Bart Starr one in the ESPN La Crosse studio.
This is my fourth radio station I’ve worked for since starting in high school at WMDC in Mayville, Wisconsin. I’ve also worked in television, which is where I got my play-by-play start.
Fun Facts About Adam…
Favorite place to hang out when not working…
Up north at my cabin. Despite working in radio, I know that sometimes silence is golden.
Favorite Band…
Rush. Everything I know how to play/do on bass guitar is at least partially inspired by Geddy Lee’s style of playing. Power Windows is my favorite album of theirs, but if you want to start listening, I’d recommend Moving Pictures first.
Dirty Little Secret…
I have an out of this world recipe collection and am an award-winning chili cook.
What did you want to be as a kid?
Either a weatherman or a pro baseball player. My college baseball career may have ended after 24 hours, BUT I did used to record weather forecasts at a station I worked for, so I made it!
What is your favorite sports moment you’ve seen live?
When the Brewers won the NL Central in 2011. Staying after the Crew won their game against the Marlins that night and watching the Cubs-Cardinals game with everyone on the jumbotron was so surreal. I still have the confetti from the postgame celebration.
If they were to make a move about you, who would play you and what would the title be?
A young Dustin Hoffman; “Just Wing It”
