Female Scouts BSA Members Outdoor Adventure

Feb 27, 2021 9:00am - 1:00pm

On Saturday, February 27th, the scouts, parents, and leaders from the seven area female Scouts BSA Troops (formerly Boy Scouts of America) will gather to have some outdoor scouting fun at Camp Decorah in Holmen, WI. As teams, these young women will test their skills by solving problems related to first aid, navigation, fire building, and other outdoor skills. There will also be ice fishing, sledding, and snow sculpture all leading to the event finale, an outdoor cooking competition! The event is being organized by the leaders from these Scouts BSA female troops that were formed once the Boy Scouts of America welcomed girls into the program starting in 2019. In the Gateway Area Council there are currently 28 girls in seven different troops and 90 female Cub Scouts ready to begin their adventure in Scouts BSA during the next few years. In the Scouts BSA program, youth learn how to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature that ignites their curiosity and invites exploration. They focus on character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
