8th Annual Freedom Honor Flight Veterans Day Breakfast

Nov 11, 2018 8:00am - 11:00am

The 8th Annual Freedom Honor Flight Veterans Day Breakfast, one of the largest gatherings of veterans in the area, will be held at Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse, UW-La Crosse. The free breakfast is open to military veterans and their spouses. This year, serving begins 8 a.m. rather than 7 a.m. as in previous years. The program begins at 10:15 a.m. UW-La Crosse student athletes set up and serve breakfast.

A number of groups will contribute to this year’s program.  The UW-La Crosse Wind Ensemble will provide music. Students from North Woods International Elementary School, La Crosse, will share several songs and lead the singing of the national anthem. The UW-La Crosse ROTC Color Guard will present the colors. Cub Scouts from Holmen will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

This year’s speaker is Lt. Col. Erik Archer, professor of military science at UW-La Crosse. Archer served in military police battalions in Iraq and Afghanistan and spent three years with the joint staff at the Pentagon. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a lifetime member of the VFW and a recipient of the Order of the Marechaussee in bronze, one of the highest honors given to a member of the Military Police Corps. It recognizes exceptional contributions, dedication and competence over an extended period of time.

Free parking for the event is available in the lot directly north of Mitchell Hall.
