The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse will be holding its 8th Annual “A Taste of the Garden” fundraising event at our Kane Street Community Garden (Corner of Kane St. & St. Cloud St.).
Each year, the Hunger Task Force presents a fun evening of music, beer and wine tasting, plus samplings of food dishes from area restaurants inspired by the items grown in our garden. There will also be guided tours of the garden, a silent auction, and a wine raffle. Funds raised by this event go towards supporting the Kane Street Community Garden and the Food Recovery Program to help eliminate hunger in our area.
Says Shelly Fortner, Executive Director of the Hunger Task Force, “The Kane Street Community Garden is really unique to our area. Along with adult’s and children’s gardening workshops, the program provides fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables that help our friends and neighbors eat healthier. Last year the garden produced over 34,000 lbs. of produce to give away free to those in need. Come take a tour with us!“
