Lane Cade Cancer Benefit

Nov 5, 2017 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Lane, who is a 7th grader at Westby Middle School, is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This type of cancer attacks the blood and bone marrow affecting the white blood cells. He is currently receiving treatment at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

The beginning of July Lane started complaining of his elbow hurting  and swelling up, so being a typical 12 year old boy, his mother, Chris thought he just banged it while playing. They iced it and it went down about a week later. A couple days later it swelled up again and went in to the clinic in Viroqua on July 14th 2017.  At the doctor’s office they drew blood and said his platelets were low and white blood cells were going crazy. They wanted us to set up another appointment in Onalaska for more testing. So on July 19th 2017 we went to Onalaska clinic and they drew more blood. The morning of July 20th is the day Chris got the phone call telling her to pack a bag for her and her son and head to La Crosse because her only son had Leukemia.  This began their journey for a single mother to do anything possible to help her son beat this disease.

To help Lane and his family through this difficult time, we are organizing a benefit to be held at the Viroqua Eagles Club with a live auction starting at 3:00 pm. We will have food, bake sale, silent auction, cake/pie auction, 50/50 raffle, Chinese raffle and other activities. We have also set up an account at WCCU 501 N. Main St, Westby, WI 54667 entitled Lane Cade Benefit if you are interested in making a monetary donation.
