What: Sometimes on a Sunday Program -- "Norwegian Architectural Traditions in America" by Darrell Henning

Where: Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center, N455 O. Ophus Road, Coon Valley, WI 54623 - 3 miles north of Coon Valley on Cty. Hwy. PI.
In this program, Darrell will look at the Norwegian architectural traditions as they developed in the homeland, then compare and contrast how those traditions moved as they were adapted, or not, when the Norwegian immigrants settled into a new land and encountered a very different environment and multiple cultural traditions. He will begin with the Viking age and the introduction of the new ideas and technology resulting from the Viking explorations and incursions through Europe and eastward to Asia. He will look at the architectural traditions as they developed in Norway and migrated to the new world.
