This classic French farce has been translated into English, and has won awards around the globe. The 1965 U.S. film adaptation starred Jerry Lewis, Tony Curtis, and Thelma Ritter. The ACT production will run September 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20.
Bernard, an American expatriate in Paris, has Italian, German, and American fiancées who are all airline hostesses with frequent layovers. With the help of his housekeeper Berthe, Robert is able to juggle all three fiancées with the finesse of an air traffic control man. That is of course until his dear old friend Robert shows up and can't keep his tongue from twisting and the airlines start flying faster jets and canceling flights. The audience better fasten their seat-belts for what's sure to be a mid-air collision inside the Paris flat if everyone shows up at once!
Parts are available for 4 women and 2 men.
BERNARD – a Parisian bachelor
BERTHE – Bernard’s housekeeper (male or female)
ROBERT – an American friend of Bernard
GLORIA – an American air hostess
GABRIELLA - an Italian air hostess
GRETCHEN – a German air hostess
